My research focuses on the ocean circulation in the three tropical oceans and on the propagation of long equatorial waves. Since the tropical ocean largely imposes the characteristics of the variability to the global climate, its modeling allows us to understand the issue of remote teleconnections, atmospheric and oceanic, at seasonal to interannual time scales.

In this context, I am also interested in the regional variability in the Eastern Boundary Upwelling Systems in the Southern Hemisphere and its relationship with the Equatorial variability.

Finally, my research activities apprehend the mechanisms of ocean-atmosphere interactions associated with the equatorial modes of variability and also with the regional climate variability in the upwelling systems.
